Frequently Asked Questions
In the south of the Corbières massif, between the Aude and the Pyrenees Orientales, the Grau de Maury pass leads you to a unique site, the fossil valley of Maury.
Once you reach the top of the pass at an altitude of 432 metres, hikers will appreciate the panoramic view of the Corbières and Fenouillèdes.
By choosing a hotel in Grau du Maury, you enter a page of history, notably by visiting the remains of the "Cathar" castle of Quéribus overlooking the small village of Cucugnan, itself made famous by a short story in Marcel Pagnol's Lettres de Mon Moulin, Le Curé de Cucugnan.
The castle of Quéribus still seems to watch over the Grau du Maury and more widely over the Corbières massif.
Abandoned after the French Revolution, the castle was restored in the early 2000s, allowing tourists to visit the fortifications and the main building in complete safety.
A terrace has also been created offering an incredible view of both the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.
