Bedroom & bathroom were small, lack of power points & no tea/coffee facilities in the room. The room served its purpose & convenient for Le Shuttle. Meal in the restaurant was very rushed, impersonal & no ambience. My steak was inedible but the starter & dessert was good.
We were disappointed the restaurant was closed. The TV did not work. The lamp was faulty. The standards seem to have slipped since last time.
Rooms are comfortable and plenty large enough. Restaurant is excellent with large portions and friendly staff. Breakfast was great, everything that you could want, again plenty to eat. In the countryside, but close to Calais, ideal for both shopping and the ferry / tunnel. Good value. We'll definitely go back again.
We use this hotel regularly because it has good access to the Channel Tunnel. The hotel is quiet and conveniently located. The restaurant is excellent, with a wide range of food and big portions. The breakfast is well displayed and prepares us for the day, with plenty of choice.
Outstanding value. Handy for Calais crossings.
Very busy restaurant was managed most proficiently by just three staff. The food was excellent in taste and value.
The restaurant and accommodation was very good but the restaurant was closed Sunday evenings and Mondays and was told everything in the village was shut and would need to drive to Wissant 25 minutes away. The reception was in the restaurant and a phonecall was needed to check-in as the person attends the restaurant. I do realize it was low season and the need to save money. Also the minibar card was not seen as it was in a slotted box in the room. It was not clear to others (English) who thought the minibar included all the breakfast items stored in the refrigerators which were open!
I suggest that either coffee/tea is in the room or the cards state only drinks are free, I also suggest all drinks are stored together in one fridge and the others are locked to prevent theft of breakfast items during the night.
I hope this helps to improve the experience and prevent possible theft in future
Ruime kamers en vooral vriendelijk personeel. Men beantwoordde elke vraag op een posotieve manier.
Once you overcome the challenge of booking into the hotel, then the accommodation is first rate. Staff once you find them are very helpful. The instructions on how to contact Reception via the phone on the unstaffed desk need to be clearer. It took us a while to work out the correct telephone number to use to contact staff to book in. Frustrating when you’ve travelled hundreds of miles and simply want to get into your room! Sadly, the restaurant was closed when we were there this time, but the breakfast the next day was excellent. We get the feeling that the hotel is only a sideline to the camping, but we’d definitely go there again and recommend it to others. Now we know how to get the key!
Well done and very professional!
Eternally this property is very attractive, it's location in relation to Calais makes it very convenient but the rooms are tired, the "Queen" bed in our room was awful and mate for a really bad night's sleep. The place advertises that it has a bar and, whist we were able to order a drink with our meal, the actual bar was closed. it would have been lovely to sit outside the bar with a drink and chat with like minded holiday makers/travellers.
No stand alone shower was also a disappointment.
Lovely clean comfortable room with a lovely breakfast ...restaurant on site good portions of food
A shower screen would have been welcome as well as a working heater in the bathroom.
This was the second time we stayed here, and I'm starting to really like this auberge.
The atmosphere is very pleasant and the location is perfect: outside the village in the country and near Calais and the Chunnel.
Rooms are simple and comfortable, clean and with everything you need. Bed was much to my liking (I realise this is a very personal thing).
Food in the restaurant is not sophisticated but more than adequate for the price you pay.
Staff is friendly and efficient.
Prijs kwaliteit een mooi verblijf. Vriendelijke ontvangst en mooie locatie.
Lovely personal welcome.
Very dissappointed the hotel wouldnt agree to change our date as we booked the wrong dates by mistake
Adequate is the best description. Neither the WiFi or the tv worked. No one came to investigate. The pool would have been nice but was over crowded with kids
Nous avons étés très bien accueillis. Dommage que notre séjour été trop court
Clean but small. Many wooden "elements" the corridor system, and in the room e.g. the bed and as you know wood makes noise. Narrow bed so risk of falling out. Rooms accessible by stairs. Ventilation was disappointing but it was also very warm, nice shower room, lockers in the (wooden) cupboard
A lovely setting and good food in the restaurants. The breakfast croissants were outstanding!
Very small room
Disappointed to have a hand held shower over the bath. Decor in bathroom dated
A very helpful and friendly staff.
It is a beautiful place and extremely convenient for Le Shuttle. If only the owners could think of undertaking a makeover of the bedrooms and bathrooms it could be a real gem. Doesn’t have to be luxury just modernised with independent showers, wood floors etc and why not open up the ceilings in the bedrooms for real character?
Perfect for a professional stay!
Not an auberge
Reception unmanned
Check-in telephone system did not work.
Room and bathroom outdated
Bed mattress is old
Nowhere to relax except for shabby area next to campsite
Breakfast area in separate building unattended and tables preset with food covered in cling film
Coffee not made freshly to order
Very disappointing
Excellent stay, quiet room and brilliant breakfast. Highly recommend
The place is magnificent, very calm and bucolic. No problem with parking... the restaurant next to the hotel is a very nice "plus". The staff is welcoming, kind and caring.
Reservation of room with bathtub, allocation of PRM room without possibility of changing. Insulation between the upper and lower bedrooms is non-existent, the movement of furniture and the claws of dogs above between 8 p.m. and midnight do not allow proper rest. Impossible to rest in the morning between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. either, due to work in the hotel.
Nice place, nice room but mixed customer experience. Any welcome, I was not particularly expected even though I booked through the platform. Restaurant closed on Monday evening, which was not indicated on the reservation. It is nevertheless possible to eat at the snack bar at the adjoining campsite, despite my reluctance, I must admit that it was more than adequate. Impeccable service, with a beautiful terrace overlooking a pleasant park. I was able to taste an excellent carbonade cooked in advance by the chef of the closed restaurant, it was excellent. Very clean and spacious room, quite comfortable despite average bedding. Pleasant breakfast, with everything you need and fairly good quality products. I just felt a little alone...
Good value hotel in a convenient area
Rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The adjacent restaurant is welcoming although I didn’t think that the quality of the food was as good as on previous occasions
One night stay offering good value
We were so impressed with this little gem just outside of Calais and it far surpassed our expectations, because on the website you just see the rooms and restaurant, not the beautiful surrounding gardens, the outside waterside and plunge pool and of course the animals - goats, rabbits and horses.
This place is a little haven of tranquility and is literally under a 20-minute drive from the port!
The breakfast was wonderful, with plenty of pain au chocolats, croissants, baguette, yoghurts, jams, cereals, drinks, meats, cheeses and fruit. the lady running this, was super friendly and accommodating. She also provided our kids with towels for the pool, despite us having checked out already, just incredibly thoughtful.
The ONLY thing that could have been slightly better, is that we arrived (family of 4, with a 6 and 8 yo) at about 20:30, straight off the ferry. The restaurant and bar were already shut and we were after some food, locally. Despite my French being relatively good, the lady checking us in, wasn't able to provide us with examples of where to drive to, to get some food. In the end we went to the nearby town (where most things apart form one little pizza take-away place were shut - on a Friday night!) and that ended up being great. But some information/ flyers or just being able to tell guests where to go, would have been very helpful.
I have been a regular client for 10 years now. Great overnight stop having just negotiated the tunnel or prior to return to UK.
Totally confused.
Had problems checking in - had to ring from telephone in reception which took 4 attempts and 5 minute wait before someone came.
Similar problem checking out - like the Mary Celeste - no-one to speak to until the breakfast lady appeared just as we were going to depart, leaving my CC No. for someone to process later.
It seems management are happy to keep guests entirely in the dark.
Too many bugs. I kept the bathroom light on because the bugs seemed to come out when the lights are off.
Fabulous food in the restaurant which was also very good value. Very disappointed that the pool was shut! It is usually open this time of year but we were not advised that it was shut before we booked.
Would prefer to use restaurant on Sunday evening
Very clean accommodation. Had dinner in the restaurant in the evening, served by friendly, welcoming staff.
Room is basic and dated but rooms are good size. Heating wasn’t prepared so room was cold on arrival. Breakfast was overpriced for what it was
Pleasantly located hotel. Calm. Discreet but efficient staff.
The Staff is very friendly and the room was nice. I liked the delicious food in the nearby restaurant. For my opinion there is too much on the plates. But I am not a very eater. As I had entry, main, cheese and dessert.
A comfortable, well presented bedroom and an attractive dining room and breakfast room. Conveniently situated and set in attractive grounds.
Hotel up to its usual high standard- excellent accommodation, very clean. Super meal served by friendly staff. Enjoyed a good breakfast before returning to England.
Great welcome, quality catering
A very warm welcome, great food and wine although portions were large. Clearly a subjective comment. Restaurant opening ties inaccurate on the website
Inexpensive hotel near to port.
Very convenient for the Channel Tunnel. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant. Comfortable room.
The location is very good, nice and peaceful. Ideally suited for travel to or from eurotunnel as its only approx 20 minutes drive. The welcome was friendly, the room and bathroom were nice and spacious and very clean. The room was warm and comfortable. We didn't eat on our stay but the restaurant looked very nice and the breakfast room also looked OK. The only thing lacking in our room was a kettle, cups and tea/coffee facilities. But I would stay here again.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, nice room, comfy bed, good restaurant. The downside though is the lack of a proper shower which was a major disappointment.
Excellent restaurant, comfortable and clean room, bathroom could do with an update, but nothing serious.
Very friendly and friendly welcome. The room I occupied (24) and its layout are quite simple. The bathroom is basic and a slightly disappointing remark is that it is only equipped with a small electric radian for heating, and I find this a shame considering the quality of the establishment. Regardless, the cleanliness of these places is exemplary, really BRAVO! In the evening stopover formula, the evening meal turns out to be not only excellent but also very, if not very, very generous. As such, it is not 'Bon appetit' that we should wish but rather 'Good luck'. Breakfast is identical in quality to the evening meal. I highly recommend this establishment. As far as I am concerned, when I am still passing through or even without being too close to the place of my meetings, it is to this establishment that I would go. Really BRAVO to the Management and all the staff!
In an excellent position to reach Eurotunnel. Quiet and pleasant. The restaurant is excellent.
Room very small. Bed needs a new mattress. Bathroom okay with very good shower.
Welcoming, easy to access
A pleasant stay. Room was OK and the restaurant very good. Our sat nav did not find the hotel. To get there it is on a roundabout on the road to Boulogne, D971 or D961 I think. The road number is part of the address on the confirmation. The hotel is part of a camping site. About 30 minutes drive from Calais port
Cheerful staff, quiet staff and the chef discussed my wife’s dietary requirements.
Very pleasant
No hot drink facility at all
Expected a room in ground floor as we have mobility issues, had to have upstairs room and no sympathy or understanding for us.
We almost left but thought we would struggle to find alternative accommodation in mid afternoon
Lovely hotel and grounds, perfect for a stopover with our dog. However the food was not good, and the service was very slow. Very disappointing.
Very poor compared to other Logis hotels we have stayed at. The bathroom was very dated and the tiles looked dirty. The restaurant was manic and totally disorganised, food ok.
Room to improve on AC
The staff at dinner were wonderful - very attentive. Unfortunately our arrival was ruined. I had rung the number given in reception and got no answer, so we went to look for someone. Finding nobody, we went back and rang again, this time the phone was answered. I then received a billion questions like, "Where are you now?", "Did you call before?", "Why weren't you there when I came?". I'm sorry, but nobody had answered and, after a few minutes nobody had come when I first called. The man came to reception after the second call and continued to ask why we had not stayed after first ringing and where had we gone? I am the guest. I had just driven 300km in 30 degrees and was hot and tired. Why shout at me because you took so long to attend reception the first time? Why blame me for going to look for you? It was an awful welcome and upset me considerably, especially as I was trying my best to speak French, and I am not confident in the language. I do not expect to be shouted at.
However, the room was immaculately clean, and the bedding very comfy, although the bathroom is very dated, and the restaurant staff (and breakfast staff) were lovely. I also think the food is poor for France - obviously mass-produced and reheated on the night. I have had better in French service stations! There was no Wi-Fi available and no explanation as to why not.
A little gem only 15mins from the Tunnel crossing. Secure parking, clean, basic accommodation with a very comfy bed and good shower (all you need!). The restaurant was a real surprise… I wasn’t expecting such a high standard of cuisine and service. Lots of locals were eating there, so they know the secret! Set in beautiful grounds and dog friendly. Would highly recommend for your last night in France before heading home to the UK (and they speak good English but it’s appreciate if you try out your French!)
Brilliant place, beautiful surroundings, excellent food and service.
The setting is beautiful, the staff pleasant and the rooms a good size but unfortunately we deplore very average services: bad beds and 140, no VMC in the bathroom, towels worthy of a 1 star, bathroom from the 60s and which gives a dirty appearance, no protection for the shower, therefore very quickly flooded. noisy hotel. So very expensive for what it is.
We stayed at two hotels in your group, one a 2 star hotel and the other a 3 star. This one was the 3 star.
This was very nice and the room was very nice, beds were very comfortable. The food in the restaurant, was very nice, but dare I say portions were on the large size.
We would have no problems staying here again. Great location for Calais.
A great place to stop off on route to the shuttle/ferry terminal.
Lovely setting, good food and service.
Very nice place, quiet, close to the beautiful beaches of Escalles in particular. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff.
Fourth time we've stayed so very happy with everything
It’s the best Hotel we have been too which is why we keep coming back year on year. My wife is disabled, we request a ground floor room and they’ve always ensure that a ground rooms allocated. You know they have read your request and that matters.
Overall they just get better year on year, come try it for yourselves. Merci Beni
We stayed here before journeying on. The hotel is good, and the rooms are good although a little tired and in need of refurbishment. The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant exceeded our expectations. All staff members were friendly and professional.
Very lovely place to stay. Small hotel, quiet and peaceful. Rooms are sufficient enough for a stopover or a few days, bit of retro/vintage look and feel, I like that. Grounds/gardens are very well kept.
Perfect destination on the way back to England. Staying more than one night gives the opportunity to discover the area more thoroughly. Would have appreciated the bar being open a little sooner- having driven for many hours through France, including negotiating Paris, a beer would have been most welcome.
Clean, comfortable accommodation. Accidentally locked ourselves out of our room. A rapid response from hotel staff who opened the door for us with a duplicate key!
Intercom reception.
We were in a disabled room. Towels were worn. Wardrobe area decor was not what I expected. No tea/coffee avaliable in bedroom. It was in another area. We knew breakfast was not included. Comfortable beds. Good quality bed linen. Stayed in comparable accommodation at less money. Overall not good value for money. Being next to the excellent Auberge fabulous.
A magnificent setting for a brief stay on the occasion of a wedding! The little extra: the possibility of taking our little dog with us for this stay.
overpriced Room , Dinner price okay ..We have stayed at this hotel 12 times but now rooms so expensive ,stayed here mid December and the rate 69 Euros .Will not stay again ,over priced Room
Overall service from staff was excellent; just let down by the more mature woman in the restaurant who was brusque, bordering on being rude.
Lovely setting and ideal for a stop over near Calais
All good
There renovated the hotel: well done.
Quiet location perfect to meet friends or family from UK!
Lovely Logis. Quiet and comfortable. Very good restaurant.
Great food well presented and good value.
Nobody on reception on arrival but when we finally found a member of staff which took a while, they were pleasant. In our view, the hotel is overpriced compared with other Logis hotels we've used.
Arrived very early, from walking the Via Francigena, so on foot with backpacks- we only wanted to leave our backpacks but since the one restaurant in town was not open, the Auberge owner agreed to let us check in early AND served us lunch! This was far above and beyond what we had experienced on our month of walking- the place on the old Mill is breathtakingly beautiful and the reasonably new owners are excellent hosts!
A lovely friendly hotel quite close to Calais and great for starting the journey to the south France. We have always had excellent meals at this hotel and this so welcome after a long drive.
Loved everything about the Auberge- hotel and restaurant. Will be back soon.
It was good
Personnel aimable courtois et souriant
Lovely big rooms and relaxing setting.
the hotel is very well located in relation to the Eurotunnel and the city center, but with the advantage of being in the countryside. Efficient and friendly service. THE
When I booked it was for 4 people. There were 3 suitable beds but the last bed is clearly an extra bed which is not 1.90 long and the mattress is of poor quality. In short it is good for a young child not a big one. We were misled by the description.
When arrived, the hotel had no record of my reservation- confirmed by Expedia - and said they were fully booked.
Huge room, lovely place but no food available.
Nice quiet hotel Room and spacious bathroom The person who does a bit of everything is very friendly and caring It's not the first time and I will come back
Well, if not the temperature in the rooms, I know it's winter, but a little fair all the same
The room was great but too cold. Breakfast was easy, but the news that there was no evening meal came way too late.
ideal stopover for travel back to UK, over the tears have ,used this hotel 10 times ,book as hotel gets busy . . Restaurant was excellent as usual with good service.
This hotel is close to Calais so convenient for UK. The staff are very welcoming, attentive and helpful. At this time if year it is very quiet and peaceful. The accomodation is simple but clean.
Beautiful quiet environment Since our last stay, carpentry and facade work of good quality have been done. It's a big plus for comfort. We will be back soon
Very good establishment. Very nice home. Very clean room and very comfortable bedding. An excellent meal with a varied choice of very high quality. The room service is of high quality and very good advice. Congratulations and see you very soon. 😁😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👍
