When booking by phone, my arrival announced by me at 8:00 p.m., I was told that a stopover evening would not be possible because an arrival 15 minutes earlier is imperative! I was also told that if I want to benefit from the best rate, I have to do it on the website and not by phone! Next time I will go through Booking! When I arrive, while I have already paid on the website for night and breakfast, they try to charge me again for breakfast as an extra! Bad night due to the noise level caused by cars passing under the poorly insulated windows. In the morning, only one towel to wash! The reception calls me in the morning to find out if I did not leave with the towels: who are they kidding?
As in a number of hotels, the price of breakfast is expensive (13.5 euros).
The hotel is good, the welcome very friendly and the breakfast perfect, but we found the rooms small, while we had comforts. And the mattress very firm

Very pleasant welcome, good bedding, appreciable calm, good breakfast. The downside is the bathroom and the toilets but these are details that the rest makes you forget. Do not hesitate to book. Enjoy your stay in this hotel.

Our room was on the top floor and we hadn’t been warned of this. Difficult to climb stairs as we are very elderly. The room was very small.. very useful to have a secure garage nearby.
Comfortable hotel, quality facilities, staff who take great care of customers.
Given the price of the night, we were disappointed with the hotel's services... The bedding is not comfortable. The window directly overlooks other rooms in the hotel but offers no view. The smell of the bathroom leaves something to be desired. The hotel bar, which is very well decorated, closes at 8 p.m. However, there are also good points: the welcome is pleasant and the geographical location is very interesting.
Finally a hotel that really welcomes cyclists with a real room, sockets for recharging electric bikes and even a refrigerator to keep drinks cool for the next day.

The hotel is in a good location in Amboise. It is very close and easy walking distance to the Loire river and downtown sites in Amboise. The staff could not have been friendlier. It's not a fancy hotel, but for the price the rooms were clean and comfortable and had a good European breakfast.

Heartwarming welcome. Lovely clean quiet hotel, tasty breakfast. Possibility of going to eat at the Voltaire restaurant where the welcome is just as charming and where you eat very good food at a very reasonable price. The possibility of parking your car nearby is a real plus.

Excellent in every way! Dont hesitate to book.The Hotel location, team and cleanliness and rooms are fantastic. The outstanding reception and management team of Mélanie, Sharon Lana and the others showed great organization and caring of guests. As a tour guide I can say that they were all working at optimal levels. Every interaction I had with the thelmwas positive and I saw that with the other guests too. The hotel is very centrally located, It was a delight to be a 1 minute walk away from the quaint "main street" rue Nationale which is a charming 16th century lane lined with boutiques and bakeries, fine food shops restaurants and more..he breakfast it was amazing, with local cheese, jams and patisserie and local apple juice. The castle of Amboise is a 7 minute walk from the hotel and the tourism office half a block away. All in all I was very happy with hotel Chaptal.

My stay at the hotel Chaptal in Ambroise is very disappointing because: No elevator and room on the 2nd floor by a steep staircase. Attic room with beams in the middle of the bathroom, very narrow shower with almost no water pressure. The 2 beds arranged in a T because impossible to put side by side! Curtain 30 cm from the window so it is impossible to block out the light. Etc., etc. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

The buffet in the restaurant is not refrigerated and protected from flies!! Hygiene was not there. . The rest of the meal was very plain.
We liked everything about this hotel. The staff were a pleasure to meet and talk to. They all did an excellent job. The room was well organized and up to date with a great air conditioner. Breakfast was excellent in all regards. The storage facility for bicycles was and is by far the best we have encountered on numerous cycling trips in France. It was large, clean, well-lit, secure and equipped with pumps, some tools, and a large number (>14!) of plugs for charging electric bikes. We look forward to our next stay!

Totally outstanding. Far exceeded expectations. Wonderful attention to detail. Welcoming atmosphere. Best continental breakfast my wife and I have ever had. Artistic environment. It is a very small place - three bedrooms for guests. The night we stayed there, there were only two sets of guests and we were each given separate dining rooms for breakfast so that we were completely on our own. No canned music. I simply cannot recommend this place highly enough. There is parking to the rear of the hotel. The entrance is not wide and getting your car in is a bit tight but once in the parking is absolutely fine. Veronique is a delightful and obliging host.

Pleasant room with however a lack of storage. Very good bedding. The niche in height is not very practical for storing clothes. The downside is the noise. We hear all the movements of people in the corridors and also the discussions of people in the neighboring rooms...
Room a bit small but very clean and pretty. The breakfast buffet is complete and well stocked
No need to call the hotel in advance if you have a particularity for your stay, this will not be taken into account and you will be sent unwelcome messages the day before your arrival for fear of losing a possible supplement during the pre-authorization. The welcome by an off-leash mastiff is charming when you arrive with your dog. Plan the flashlight in room 2 because you will not have light once lying down. The cleanliness in the shower and bathroom leaves something to be desired.
Once again, Booking customers are the most poorly housed. moreover, public car park about 500m away, parking impossible in rue Chaptal. Room n°25 on the 2nd floor, under the eaves, without lift, winding staircases, people with difficulties, to be avoided. The worst, the bathroom: cramped, lighting mirror washbasin inoperative, smell of sewage, and one of the 2 openings of the shower screen which fell on us while trying to close it, not surprising because a roller was missing. The reception granted us a commercial gesture and must pass on our remarks.
