Restaurant la Belle Meunière

When art meets gourmet food
La Belle Meunière's restaurant enjoys a unique location on the banks of a peaceful river. The elegant restaurant room is a listed building with an Art Nouveau interior dating from 1911. This exceptional space is adorned with mouldings, stained glass windows and chinoiseries that subtly echo the Asian flavours served on the Read more plates. The restaurant also has a room with a bistro atmosphere, housed under a splendid 1900s glass roof that floods the room with natural light. The sun's rays are reflected on the zinc counter. The old fireplace adds a cosy touch that warms the room on winter days. You can enjoy generous local cuisine and comforting dishes in sauce, tirelessly worked on with the aim of making each ingredient sublime.
At La Belle Meunière, you will enjoy regional cuisine that is honoured through elaborate menus that change with the seasons. The Chef Laurent Jury takes care of the mushrooms, wild fruits and wild herbs picking according to the season. He then selects each product with the greatest care from regional suppliers, handpicked and proud of their know-how. Everything is organic and comes from farms located in the department: farm pigs from the Cormier farm; free-range poultry from Thierry Gardon; organic flours and cereals from Jean-Michel Cellier; fario trout and Ikégime char from Stéphane Heinis' ponds; or Clovis Pacaut for the Wagyu beef. Because if the good products are 100% local, the inspirations come from elsewhere. From Asia more precisely.
The Chef dares to create a daring cuisine, where the richness of the Auvergne region blends with Japanese flavours, and invites you to travel. To accompany his dishes, the restaurant boasts a well-stocked cellar with some twenty Auvergne wines, as well as wines from all over France. Not forgetting a collection of cognacs, the oldest of which dates back to 1805. And to finish, there is a fine selection of Japanese whiskies, again in a nod to the chef's love for the Land of the Rising Sun.
In the kitchen, Laurent Jury and his brigade are busy making your taste buds vibrate during a memorable gastronomic moment. This native of Auvergne learnt his trade in Parisian palaces, under the patronage of Guy Legay, but remains deeply attached to his Auvergne roots, which he will eventually find again. A regular in the Gault & Millau and awarded the distinction of "Master Chef of France", he is fascinated by Japanese culture. A passion that he delicately infuses into his cooking. In fact, the chef proudly wears a cherry blossom on his apron.
If you ask him what his speciality is, the chef will tell you that each dish is a unique and personal work. We love the trout maki caught by Stéphane Heinis or the Wagyu beef flavoured with black garlic from Billom and Japanese sake. Creative, fine and always elegant. For lunch, the bistro-style room welcomes you under the glass roof and offers a more convivial and affordable menu. On the menu: dishes in sauce, simmered in a casserole, ceviche... The traditional Auvergne ham accompanied by aligot balls cooked in a cromesquis style are a real treat for the taste buds. Reduce
