I book 2 rooms in June, got confirmation number and a welcome email. When we arrived at the hotel it was closed, no cars in the car park and no-one on site at all. We had driven from South of France for 11 hrs to find this. So very upsetting to a point my partner was in tears as we had no where to go.

The half-board booking was not a hindrance to the choice of menu. We were able to choose from the most diverse menu (and not imposed) which is not always the case when you opt for this type of formula. Beautifully made catering (presentation and preparation). Communication with the hotel prior to our stay was easy and responses were prompt. Sadly we had to cancel our reservation at the last minute due to a family medical emergency. The hotel was very understanding in allowing us to cancel at last minute, making the process very smooth
Breakfast too late. Insufficient nighttime closing instruction: difficulty finding the outside exit in the morning; the main access is not functional Limited choice of restoration
We stayed in the chateau it was overlooking the river which allowed us to view the local birds & red squirrels.
The house is magnificent, but the room was rather dated. No toilet paper dispenser, the toilet wall light is not complete and the bulb is completely uncovered. Presence of holes in walls. The curtain does not close properly and the window does not have shutters. The sound insulation isn't great either.

Magnificent site but small problem in the room above the trash cans with a lot of odors even with the window closed. No coffee pods in the room and impossible to call from the site, no network. It's a shame because the welcome is perfect and the staff are charming.
Spacious parking, good reception, well-kept rooms and common areas. Comfortable bedding. Calm atmosphere. A downside for the poorly performing wifi.

Just avoid the classic room with a 140 wide bed, plan for a comfort room.
A real surprise to find this great hotel out in the countryside
Having stayed at La Marjolaine on a number of occasions over a number of years and having enjoyed our stays there to the extent that we have recommended it to friends we were disappointed to notice the continued reduction in the standard of bedrooms. When we first stayed there the bedrooms allocated were in the main building and were of good quality. Over the years the policy appears to have changed and in recent years the rooms allocated have been in what they term the chateau. While these are larger than the rooms in the main building the standard of the facilities, decor and service's have declined markedly. This year the curtains would not draw properly and the complementary tea and coffee service was to all intents non existent as there were no sachets of coffee powder, no tea sachets and no creamer or milk. On bringing this to the attention of the management a member of staff appeared with a handful of Earl Grey Tea (which is not a very popular type) sachets. a handful of sugar tubes but no coffee sachets, creamer or milk. There was no apology for this considerable shortfall. Frankly, while the dining room may still provide its formerly very good service and quality, we were not able to judge this as we were staying there for Sunday night only, The breakfast on Monday morning was satisfactory.
Sadly in our opinion La Marjolaine no longer deserves its Hotel Elegance listing in the 2023 Logis guide
Very warm welcome in a very pleasant setting. Only the WIFI deserves to be more efficient because there is little mobile network in this very quiet place.

This hotel is a rare find- an elegant, peaceful chateau in an exquisite setting, yet for a moderate price. Many rooms are in separate buildings set about a park among mature trees and lawns. Ours was in one wing of the chateau, overlooking the river Mayenne. There is direct access to the river towpath for walking and cycling.

Wonderful stay
Lovely tranquil atmosphere, all the staff are super friendly and the hotel rooms are clean and tidy. The food in the restaurant was amazing too! Can’t fault this place really! May be my new favourite! Would definitely stay again!
Waiter absent 30 minutes of waiting for a poor terrine of fish, it was necessary to ask three times to have the drink waitress who does not say a word by depositing and taking back the plates. For a so called 'tasty' restaurant the service delivery is poor The food is certainly not bad but lacks work

As soon as you arrive in this house you will be amazed by the chatelain setting that the site offers. Spacious and bright room, attentive and accommodating service. Very quiet site along the Mayenne. Gourmet breakfast even if the price is a bit high (12€).
Quiet location by the river. Wonderful relaxing ambience. Excellent restaurant. Friendly staff.
