Rooms lovely, clean and tastefully decorated. Staff helpful & professional. Breakfast good choice of goods available, no scrambled eggs left, so we boiled eggs which were very tasty. Asked about dinner, but thought price at 64 Euros was a bit expensive. Had emailed hotel to ask cost of semi pension, but did not receive a reply- unlike the Logis at Gramat who replied by return and we stayed there 2 nights and enjoyed a lovely dinner both nights.
I am disappointed with mixed feelings about our stay in Hotel Charbonnal. At the hotel end, the hotel is an old fashion kind, no elevator, no air conditioner, room is on the small side with very minimum amenities. In the room, there is 1 bottle of water w/ 2 glasses, 1 little piece of soap, 1 little bottle of body lotion, 1 bottle of combo hair/ body gel nailed on wall in shower and 1 bottle of hand soap nailed on wall. Very basic in deed. It was super hot day, lovely to open window and have some breeze and look at the water view, but hundreds of little bugs came in after that. It gets super hot and stuffy if you close the windows even with a fan in the room. There is also no free parking nor loading area for the hotel.
Now the plus side: the hotel staffs are super friendly and helpful although they don’t always speak English. I was able to borrow a hot water boiler and 2 cups and 2 packages of tea bags from the bar. Although the restaurant was really full for dinner, they managed to squeeze us in. Dinner was very delicious and quite creative. There is a pay parking nearby charged by hour and a free parking distance way down.

We had a wonderful time. They immediately responded when I asked about something about the room I wanted to book, because of that I didn't hesitate to make a reservation. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable about the events in Brantome. They even slow us umbrella even though we have already checked out. Moreover, they were very kind to our 1 year old. It made me less anxious. Traveling with a baby can be a bit stressful.

You were surprised to be in the annex building when you arrived, yet this is how the quadruple room that you had selected when booking was presented. A priori no elevator, cardiac caution. For dinner, the surprise menu may be suitable for a trendy clientele, for my part I abstained, but it is true that I may be a little conservative. Classy hotel for a reasonable price.

Room in an annex with digicode. You have to cross the road for breakfast in the hotel. Room worn. Ridiculously small toilet not suitable for adults. Not to mention the price of breakfast at 18 €.
Bad value for money for this hotel still a little in its original state with a bedroom and a bathroom far too small for this price.
