Decent hotel and the restaurant, Scottish inspired cuisine is very good. Try the Cullen skink, haddock soup… delicious!
very very very old....
Charming hotel too old especially because of the lack of elevator...
ETS, from another era, which has charm. Where we eat well, atypical furniture. This is the third time I come this year. No bad surprises.
Frosty welcome because the owner was not happy that we had booked via booking when he was offering a price 10€ higher directly. We had to pay the tourist tax when the ad clearly stated that taxes and fees were included. After 30 minutes of debate we gave up due to the silence and bad faith of the hotelier... We also had to justify our return time to the hotel and had to wait about 15 minutes before the hotelier deigned to give us the code to enter the hotel after 10pm. We later understood that he did not want to give it to us so that we would not discover that his door was in fact not secure. He then blamed us for not having eaten in his restaurant... it is by far the worst experience we have had in a hotel which was nevertheless somewhat mitigated by the kindness of the other members of the hotel... It should also be noted that the decoration of the hotel is worthy of the inter-war period and has clearly not been updated for over 60 years....
Very good welcome
For those who want to find themselves in another era Excellent restaurant meal
A hotel in its own right
Flawless. Right in front of the station. Excellent hygiene, comfortable bedding and generous breakfast. Looking forward to coming back
A slightly outdated hotel but with a soul, which is increasingly rare!
Very friendly welcome, Mr. Drapeau is charming and attentive. The meal is very generous and with fresh produce. I really liked the atmosphere of this charming hotel
Very pleasant establishment and very well located... pleasant for travelers who like "retro" and "authenticity"! If you like places that smell like the 70s (while providing current services ++) then you are suitable! Modern fans, move on! (this will make more places for us!).
The furniture is dated, and especially in terms of cleanliness... catastrophic. At this stage, carpet should be banned. Worst hotel experience.
Everything was perfect ! Exoticism included: I had never been to Scotland :) I would come back.
Atypical hotel, timeless Great welcome and very good cuisine
Perfect welcome.
Dilapidated hotel, questionable cleanliness and uncomfortable bedding. A three star ???? It barely deserves 2. Only the location is worth it. Very disappointed!
A good Logis, where this is the second time I have visited, which does not disappoint me in terms of value for money. I couldn't find the Wi-Fi code in the room, and I didn't want to go back down to reception to get it. So I connected to my phone and my 4G so
Very dated hotel. Cleanliness, I preferred not to look in detail, but that said the bedding was quality and very clean. The host is super friendly, but above all congratulations to the restaurant team, the lunchtime waitress and then the evening waitress were very, very good. Young waiter who is friendly, smiling and dynamic but be careful with your mastery of French. Note the simple cuisine but REMARKABLE in quality of execution.
An exotic place, although Scotland is far from our countries, "so cozy" and what's more the staff is there to take care of you. What about the kitchen? A pepper steak of rare tenderness and cooked as I wanted accompanied by fried potatoes and lamb's lettuce salad without forgetting this dessert in memory of Queen Victoria, a surprising delight to discover and appreciate. The room as I like it, for the calmest rest. If I come back to this city I will renew my stay.
pleasant hosts, quite charming hotel, traditional but nevertheless surprising meal, to visit for those who like to go beyond the standard chains
Very good location right opposite the train station. Very well received. Too hot in the room. camber 22 Mattress with a hollow on the left side. to change !!
A pleasant stay in a unique place, a very courteous host, a very pleasant air of yesteryear, a little British of course and a unique location opposite the station. Very calm and silent at night.
Old hotel. Stairs leading to the rooms not practical. Room out of date. Antique and very damaged carpet. Bathtub seals black with mold. No hot water this morning for the shower (indulgence it can happen) Welcome and friendly staff, pleasant cuisine.
Picturesque!
A bit of a British decorative atmosphere, very nice. Comfortable, low noise. Breakfast a little light perhaps.
A journey through time, atypical, so cute
Charming hotel, a little old-fashioned. Very attentive welcome.
Decoration from another time, unpleasant smell when entering the room
If you like kitsch and carpet you've come to the right place. We are not in great hygiene when the room and especially the toilets have carpet on the floor. Noisy establishment and obviously some dishes are reheated and not fresh. What a pity …
Old hotel with charm
Dirty very dirty, stained carpet, dust, terrible smell in the rooms I rented 2 very old ones, shower the joints are rotten, the toilets very dirty I do not recommend in view of the price
The rates indicated on booking are not applied by the hotel. It is scandalous to take advantage of the lack of choice and the fatigue of customers to impose their prices. The manager told me that there was no €72 room in his hotel. If there is no room at 72€, do not offer one on booking. At the restaurant, the waitress barely wanted to seat us for dinner and yet we were hotel guests.
A vintage hotel that has retained its old style. The welcome and the services are satisfactory, the rooms are correct, perhaps a little dated. Special mention for the high quality catering and which acclaims Scottish cuisine, to discover and very good fish. I recommend her!!!
After a day on the road, what a pleasure to arrive in a totally atypical hotel. The decor is kitchissime with a traditional hotel that has remained in its own juice for decades. I have a special mention for the room with the four-poster bed! All that was missing was the unicorn stuffed animal and Prince Charming climbing over the window. The receptionist is a cream just like the room staff, very caring. I unfortunately skipped the restaurant, but the decor there is delicious (red walls, portraits of Mary Stuart, hunting trophies...) and especially the offer of whiskeys to die for. The downside simply comes from the kitsch side. If you are looking for a walk-in shower or if you have allergies to dust mites, skip your turn. On the other hand, if you want to get out of the ordinary and have a good time, do not hesitate.
Atypical hotel with a style of its own. Friendly staff and very good dinner. Classic breakfast without more.
Very satisfied and the staff very welcoming
Scotland in Vendée : fabulous ;-)
Warm welcome and staff. Cockroach found in the room, small bugs on the bed, musty smell in the room and really average cleanliness.
I book a stopover evening and my boss tells me that the hotel doesn't do it on Sundays when you can book it on the internet. So I had to move outside the hotel to eat. In addition the water in the shower was very cold, the hot water took 10 minutes to arrive. I do not recommend this hotel too old, no air conditioning I was super hot at night.
Very poor quality hotel. Not clean and out of date! Old carpet very used (see moldy) and rug bath mat that has not seen a washing machine for a long time.
I would have rated it a little better if I hadn't ended up with a few fleas in my room. Quickly eradicated by an aerosol poison provided by the hotelier. Good food and good staff overall
All the comments on the various sites are in line with my stay You should not expect great luxury Same important remark on hygiene and the famous yogurts, hams and cheeses at breakfast not being cool, high temperature during days of my stay and yogurts dated until 05/30 when we are on the 31st!!! Confusing information on the room number: 7 on the key and 2 posters in the room noted 107 and/or 307 View of a room used as a dump behind the window and small terrace and garden left abandoned and fallow! Really a shame because the staff is helpful and friendly but fearful of "Boris Johnson" remaining at the entrance of the hotel like a "Beefeater" in his reception hut
It's a pity that there is no buffet at breakfast which is ultimately not very rich.
Dirty and dilapidated room and hotel, dust, mold in the rooms, smell of sewage in the room, the windows no longer open and are moldy, the shower too. Very little hot water, disappointing bedding, very bad sleep. The slats are missing, we sleep in a hole… hairs in the sheets and ears… the floor is warped and damp. The shower column remained in my hands and the shower bulb is broken and full of grime. Decoration from another time, the smell goes with it. Wobbly desk ready to fall and small bedroom. For breakfast, do not be demanding with the temperature of fresh food… room temperature for yogurts and charcuterie which was a little dried out. We had a really bad time and were happy to leave.
To flee! Mold in the rooms, lack of hygiene
Carpet throughout the bedroom, including the bathroom and WC. Carpet full of whitish and blue stains. Joints of the earthenware of the blackened bathroom. Receptionist rude to the rest of the staff. Room staff very nice. Dairy products in the open air in the morning... Respect for the cold chain?
Atypical hotel so British
Very unpleasant welcome Difference in price between booking and the hotelier who made me pay 13 euros more because we were 2. Very rude staff Dilapidated room The staff knocked on the door insistently from 9 am to leave the room, however rented until 11 am. To flee !
